KNOWN FOR ITS SUCCESSFUL CONSERVATION OF THE BARASINGHA

Kanha National Park is yet another of India's celebrated national parks; the star mammals being the Royal Bengal Tiger and the rare hardground swamp deer or Barasingha. At last count, the sal forests and vast meadows of this park was home to 89 tigers, one of the highest in India; the park is also known for its successful conservation of the Barasingha, a species that was on the brink of extinction.

In addition to tigers and barasingha, wildlife enthusiasts can expect to sight Leopard; deer and antelope species like Spotted Deer, Sambar, and Barking Deer; Langur; Gaur (Indian bison); Wild Boar; and more than 300 species of birds, including Indian Roller, Peafowl, Peregrine Falcon, White-throated Kingfisher and more.
