Glimpse of Tripura : Overview

Tripura is one of the seven states in the north eastern part of India. It is bounded on the north, west, south and south-east by Bangladesh whereas in the east it has a common boundary with Assam and Mizoram.

The history of Tripura as a administrative unit dates back to the days of Maharajas when the territory was a princely State ruled by Maharajas of Manikya Dynasty. Tripura is culturally fascinating and the state’s royal palaces and temples draw a growing flow of tourists. Agartala, its capital, is centered on the imposing Ujjayanta Palace. Other important sites in Agartala include Kunjaban Palace and Malancha Niwas. The following itinerary also includes visit to Udaipur to see the only lake palace in Eastern India, the Neer Mahal and the Shakti shrine, Tripura Sundari Temple built in 1501.
