DANCING DEER
OF MANIPUR: 3 NIGHTS/4 DAYS
IMPHAL - LOKTAK - IMPHAL
Day 01: ARRIVE
IMPHAL BY AIR / ROAD
Meet and assist
by Jungle Travels Staff. Transfer
to Hotel Nirmala or similar. Afternoon
visit local market. Dinner and overnight.
Day
02: IMPHAL
Today after breakfast we will first
visit Shree Govindajee temple, a historic
Vaishnavite center. The shrines of
Krishna and Balaram and Jagannath
flank the two sides of the prestigious
deity. Manipuries are mostly Vaishnavites
and this temple is the main place
of worship. We will then visit the
Khwairamband Bazar of Ima Market,
a unique all women market where all
'Imas' or mothers run the stalls.
Exquisite handlooms and handicrafts
will impress you. By late afternoon
we will take you see a polo match
in traditional gear. We return to
hotel to freshen up. This evening
we have arranged a traditional dinner
at a dance school. This is the highlight
of the evening. While you enjoy your
dinner served in plantain leaves under
open sky, do not miss the traditional
Manipuri dance and martial art being
performed just for you. We return
to the hotel. Overnight.
Day 03: IMPHAL-LOKTAK
LAKE-IMPHAL
After breakfast drive to Loktak Lake,
a National Park. Look for the 'Sangai'
or Dancing deer found here. Return
to Imphal and to your hotel. Dinner
and overnight.
Day 04: IMPHAL-AIRPORT
TRANSFER
After breakfast at the hotel we proceed
to the airport to board outgoing flight
to Calcutta.
