EASTERN HIMALAYAN
MONASTIC TOUR: 6 NIGHTS/7 DAYS
GUWAHATI - NAMERI - DIRANG - TAWANG
- BOMDILA - GUWAHATI
Day 01: GUWAHATI
TO TEZPUR
(Arrival in Guwahati and transfer to
Tezpur - 192 km / 4 hrs drive)
Arrive at Guwahati
Airport where you will be received
by Jungle Travels India staff. Transfer
to Tezpur town near the Arunachal
Pradesh border. On arrival we will
check in at Hotel. Evening we will
take a walk in the town bazaars. Overnight.
Day
02: TEZPUR TO DIRANG
(Drive from Nameri to Dirang - 160
kms / 6 hours)
We will be driving up to Dirang (inhabited
by the Monpa tribe) today at an altitude
of 6500 ft. Check into hotel on arrival.
Afternoon sight seeing of Dirang town
includes visit to local market. Return
to hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 03: DIRANG
- TAWANG
(Drive from Dirang to Tawang 146 kms
/ 5 hours)
After breakfast we will visit the
centuries old Dirang Dzong and the
village with its traditional houses.
Afterwards we will drive to Tawang
at 10200 ft. On the way we will be
crossing the Sela Pass at 14000 ft,
the highest motorable pass in the
Northeast. Check into Private Lodge.
Evening take a walk around Tawang
town. Dinner and overnight.
Day 04: TAWANG
Today we will visit the famous 400
years old Tawang Monastery. Interact
with the lamas (monks). Come back
to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon
visit a Monpa tribal village. Evening
visit market. Dinner and overnight.
Day
05: TAWANG - BOMDILA
(Drive from Dirang to Tawang 180 kms
/ 7 hours)
We drive back to Bomdila today. On
arrival check in to Hotel. Evening
visit local market and the lower gompa.
Overnight in Bomdila.
Day 06: BOMDILA
- GUWAHATI
We come down from the lofty mountains
to the plains of Assam as we drive
down to Guwahati. Check into Hotel
on arrival. Evening visit government
emporia to pick up souvenirs. Dinner
and overnight.
Day 07: AIRPORT
TRANSFER
Today you will be
transferred to the Guwahati airport
to catch your out going flight.
