Tucked away deep
in the heart of the Dibang Valley
district of Arunachal Pradesh in the
eastern Himalayas is the little hamlet
of Anini. Perched at 8000 ft. on a
plateau overlooking the River Dree,
it is strategically situated on the
Chinese border. This forested and
isolated region is known for its beauty
and panoramic views of the Himalayas.
The area is sparsely populated and
predominantly tribal. The major tribes
of this district consist of the Idu
Mishmis. The tribal communities are
mainly dependent on natural resources
for their sustenance. Due to sparse
population density, pressures on the
forest and wildlife are minimal despite
prevalence of traditional hunting.
Anini is the place from where we begin
our trekking through quaint villages,
hills and forests taking a circuitous
route and come out near Roing near
the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
Along the way we will be stopping
over at Hunli, another settlement
of some importance. The Mayodia pass,
Etabe and Italin are some of the other
places we will be going through.
All your trekking equipments will
be carried by trained porters, cooks
and you will be looked after by our
experienced escort and local guides.
